2022 National Heroes Day Awards:
Honouring our Uniform Services

 
 

National Heroes Day 2022 acknowledges and celebrates our “Uniform Services” who bear responsibility for responding to emergencies, maintaining public order, security and public safety, border control, preventing crimes, or keeping in secure custody those committed by the courts and assisting in their rehabilitation.

Uniform services for the purpose of National Heroes Day 2022 represents those who have served or who are serving in the Cayman Islands jurisdiction. These include officers of the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service (including the Special Constabulary), Cayman Islands Fire Services, Customs & Border Control (CBC, including Immigration & Customs Legacy Officers), Her Majesty’s Cayman Islands Prison Service, Cayman Islands Cadet Corps, Cayman Islands Coast Guard, and the Cayman Islands Regiment.

2022 National Heroes Day recognises the outstanding contributions made by officers of our Uniform Services who work diligently to maintain the peace, protecting and maintaining the safety and security of the public they serve.

The 2022 National Heroes Day Awards for Honouring our Uniform Services are in the following categories:

Early Pioneer

An individual, alive or deceased, who has made an exceptional contribution, prior to 1971, to the development and/or delivery of Uniformed Services in the Cayman Islands. This individual will be awarded with a certificate.

Pioneer

An individual, alive or deceased, who has made an exceptional contribution between 1971 and 2011, to the development and/or delivery of Uniformed Services in the Cayman Islands. A commemorative insignia and certificate will be awarded.

EMERGING PIONEER

An individual, alive or deceased, who has made a significant contribution, from 2012 to 2021, to the development and/or delivery of Uniformed Services in the Cayman Islands. This individual will receive a certificate.

EXCELLENCE AND VALOUR

An individual alive or deceased, who during their service has performed an extraordinary act of bravery and acted voluntarily and without regard for personal risk, exhibiting remarkable heroism under circumstances of extreme personal danger. This act(s) must have occurred in a moment of clear and obvious danger and was clearly above and beyond the call or risk of ordinary duty/sense of obligation. A commemorative insignia and certificate will be awarded.

Memorial Scroll

A deceased person who was a leader or notable contributor to the development and/or delivery of Uniformed Services in the Cayman Islands who lost their life in the line of duty or while serving as a member of the Uniformed Services. This individual will be awarded with a certificate.

Extended deadline for submissions was Saturday, 23 October 2021. Only completed nominations received by the deadline will be considered.
