COAT OF ARMS 60th ANNIVERSARY COIN
Due to overwhelming demand, CIMA and Celebrate Cayman have received approval for a second mintage of the coin – an update that will delight those on the waiting list hoping for such news. The stylistic details of the second mintage differ ever so slightly from the first edition, a move to protect the integrity and authenticity of each. The second mintage coin features the thatch rope and “Our Coat of Arms” in gold – these elements were silver in the first mintage.
The one troy ounce of .999 fine silver coin was designed by Celebrate Cayman Committee Project Coordinator Kara Coe and is the second commemorative coin she has designed for the Cayman Islands Government.
The Coat of Arms is depicted on the obverse side of the coin with the 60th Anniversary logo in partial colour on the reverse.

National Heroes Day: Celebrating the Creation of our Coat of Arms
Monday 28 January | 9:00am
Heroes Square, Downtown George Town
For this year’s National Heroes Day, we’ll be celebrating the establishment of our first national symbol, the Coat of Arms, honouring the people who served the Cayman Islands at that time, recognising organisations that have served our community for over 50 years, and celebrating our community’s journey to modern day Cayman Islands. National Heroes Day is also a time to recognise our national heroes and show our national pride.
Our Coat of Arms is the Cayman Islands’ first internationally recognised symbol of identity and its rich imagery tells the story of who we are, our history, our culture, our earliest industries, our constitutional relationship and our faith.
The ceremony begins at 9am and refreshments will follow the celebrations. All are invited to celebrate Cayman and National Heroes Day on 28 January 2019.
