Following on from the very successful event held on Monday evening at Durbar Court, Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) where celebrations were held for the 60th anniversary of the Coat of Arms and where Caymanians showcased to a large audience the rich history, great culture and Caymankind hospitality, celebrations continued on Tuesday 15th May with a Cayman themed lunch held at the renowned 3 Michelin Star chef Clare Smyth’s restaurant, Core.

Coat of Arms Celebrations Begin in the UK

As people in the Cayman Islands woke up to find the Celebrate Cayman logo draped on the front of the Government Administration Building in George Town, a packed reception organised by the Cayman Islands London Office and hosted by The Premier, Hon. Alden McLaughlin took place at the iconic Durbar Court in the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) on Monday night to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Cayman being granted its Coat of Arms by Queen Elizabeth II on 14 May 1958.

Celebrate Cayman Launches in May

May marks an important anniversary for the Cayman Islands, 60 years since the creation of the Coat of Arms.

The Coat of Arms was ordered by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on 14 May 1958. It represents the Royal Warrant assigning “Armorial Ensigns for the Cayman Islands” which became the first key symbol of national identity for Caymanians.
