Stars: solidarity (community engagement)

Project Description:
The Optimist Club of George Town would like to ensure the children of the Cayman Islands are safer this year by addressing the issue of bus safety.

Bus safety is of critical importance for the children who rely on transportation to and from school via school buses. This project aims to engage all members of the local community including children and the driving public.

Children play an important role in keeping themselves safe on the bus. They are responsible for their own safety and can contribute to the safety of their fellow students. When bus rules are not followed, this can cause the driver to be distracted, taking their focus off the road and may result in a injuries and road accidents. I addition, the driving public must follow the road safety rules when they encounter a school bus. Failure to stop and strictly adhere to bus safety rules can result in catastrophic accidents for students and the driving public.

The Optimist Club will host safety demonstrations to teach both students and the driving public the key safety rules to ensure safety for all. This project engages all members of the local community in this public awareness campaign.
